Marvel has revealed that the first artist selected for the Disneyland Paris Marvel Comics training has procured their first comic. The results of the program are hanging at the Jack Kirby Legacy Gallery. Artist Federica Mancin is set to illustrate the upcoming Miles Morales: Spider-Man #11, filling in for mainstay artist and current Stormbreaker Federico Vicentini. The issue, from writer Cody Ziglar, will see Miles Morales joining up with Blade as they battle new villain Hightail this October.
Mancin discussed the experience of working on the title, stating:
“Having the opportunity to work on a Miles Morales issue as my first job at Marvel has been a dream come true as he is my favorite Marvel character. I have enjoyed every second of it, the chance to draw Miles swinging across New York or throwing webs at his enemies, of course all the action sequences were super fun to me, as I love trying to find ways to convey energy and motion through the page. I have also enjoyed bringing to life other cool characters like Blade or Hightail as they make the adventure even more gripping and thrilling. I think it’s going to be an amazing and spooky journey!”
The training program provided up and coming artists a chance to develop their sequence skills under Marvel artists and current Stormbreakers. This round of mentors included Giuseppe Camuncoli, Olivier Coipel, Peach Momoko, and Natacha Bustos. The artists worked to guide the selected mentees and the final challenge of the program saw artists complete an entire comic page within a tight 24 hour deadline.
