Marvel shares more preview pages and a pantheon of variant covers for the upcoming launch of G.O.D.S., the newest addition to the publisher’s cosmology. The series, from writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Valerio Schiti, was revealed to be at the crossroads of magic and science in a video conference on Thursday. A new trailer was shown and plot details became public knowledge ahead of the book’s October release.
The conflict features avatars of diametrically opposed forces, Wyn of The-Powers-That-Be and Aiko of The-Natural-Order-Of-Things, coming out of the shadows and interacting with the larger Marvel Universe. Hickman starts his worldbuilding from page one as a Babylon Event (an instance where the cosmic balance is upended) occurs, and will require science and magic working together to battle an eldritch horror.
In the press release, Hickman describes the series, stating:
“When I came back to Marvel a few years ago, I wrote two series bibles. The first was HOUSE OF X and the other one was G.O.D.S.. To say that I’m excited to finally be able to share this story with everyone is a massive understatement. G.O.D.S. takes place in its own special corner of the Marvel Universe — in the cracks that lie at the intersection of science and magic — and revisits some characters and concepts that we’ve reimagined for a more modern, continuity-driven audience.”
Along with these new details, Marvel also revealed new variant covers from artists Mahmud Asrar & Matthew Wilson, Peach Momoko, Skottie Young, and more. Those covers, along with Mateus Manhanini’s main cover and the preview pages can be seen below:
