Comixology announced that colorist Lee Loughridge is making their writing debut with the series Midstate. Joining Loughridge on writing and coloring is artist Mack Chater, letterer and designer by Rob Tweedie. The series, which launches from the Comixology Originals program on March 12, follows a disgraced clairvoyant as they try to solve a string of missing person cases and repair their credibility as a psychic.
Lee Loughridge discussed the inspiration for the series in the press release, stating:
“The idea for MIDSTATE came from a dream I had. It was of a man talking with a corpse. When I asked who he was talking to, he said, “The Devil.” I woke up, wrote it down and got to work.”
Chater provides both the covers and the interiors for the series, while Loughridge will provide colors along with scripting the book. Comixology revealed a first look at the cover and interiors, which can be seen below.
In the press release, Loughridge also described the transition from coloring to writing, stating:
“I have been coloring other peoples’ comics stories for nearly 30 years. In fact, I just learned that I’m the #1 colorist, in terms of volume, in U.S. history! Now I’m taking the leap to writing, and of course, coloring, my very own. It’s been really challenging and exciting, and I hope people enjoy it.”
Midstate will be available on Amazon’s Comixology Originals exclusive digital content line March 12, 2024.
