Batwoman’s future gets a very Rose-y outlook!
When it was announced back in May that Batwoman was going to be coming to the Arrowverse, fans started speculating as to who would be cast in the role of the DC Universe’s premiere lesbian superheroine. Some favorite casting suggestions included Evan Rachel Wood, Yvonne Strahovski, and Adrianne Palicki. Today, it was announced that Ruby Rose will be suiting up as Gotham’s resident army bat. Batwoman will be making her debut in the annual Arrowverse crossover later this year. In addition to that, the CW is also hard at work at putting together a pilot for the character, for a potential ongoing series.
Kate is described as being armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind. She soars onto the streets of Gotham City as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.
Executive produced by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter along with Geoff Johns, the showrunner of the proposed Batwoman series will be Caroline Dries. No other details of the series – supporting characters, Gotham City’s Arrowverse backstory – have been announced yet.
As always, we’ll be watching!
