The debut issue of the highly anticipated sword & sorcery epic BABS, by award-winning writer Garth Ennis and artist Jacen Burrows, will have stunning variant covers by superstar artists Chris Burnham and Amanda Conner. AHOY Comics will publish a total of four collectible covers for issue 1: a main cover by Jacen Burrows (Crossed, The Ribbon Queen), a full color cover by Chris Burnham (Batman Inc., Nameless), a black-and-white line art variant by Burnham, and a full color variant by Amanda Conner (Harley Quinn, The Pro).
“Gun to my head, I cannot pick a favorite,” said Editor-in-Chief Tom Peyer when asked to comment on the covers. “Please put down the gun.”
BABS artist Jacen Burrows has worked extensively with Alan Moore and Garth Ennis on projects including The Ribbon Queen, Crossed, Neonomicon, and Providence. Ennis is the award-winning writer of Hitman, The Punisher, Sara and Marjorie Finnegan, Temporal Criminal, and the co-creator of The Boys and Preacher. The first issue of the 6 issue series will land in stores on August 15, 2024.
“2024 is currently shaping up to be the most exciting year in the history of AHOY Comics, and not just because of the pinball machine we installed in the office breakroom,” said AHOY Comics Publisher Hart Seely. “With the release of BABS and TOXIC AVENGER and the return of JUSTICE WARRIORS, there’s never been a better time for readers and comic collectors to notice AHOY Comics, remove our wire-rimmed glasses, and discover just how beautiful we’ve been all along.”
