‘Blue Beetle’ Film Announced by DC and Warner Bros.

It looks like Blue Beetle will be making the jump to the silver screen soon!

DC and Warner Bros. have announced that they are currently developing a Latino-led Blue Beetle film featuring the most recent iteration of the character, Jaime Reyes. Mexican-born screenwriter Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala) will pen the screenplay, with Zev Foreman executive producing.

Jaime Reyes first appeared in 2006’s Infinite Crisis #3 which was quickly followed with a solo series of his own. Jaime is actually the third individual to become the Blue Beetle, following the original Dan Garret and more popular Ted Kord.

While we don’t know much else about the film, such as casting decisions, potential directors or even a release date, this news along with a potential Zatanna film (see here!) seems to point towards a new direction for DC films. Could this news further delay the Man of Steel sequel fans have been waiting for, or even more, the Flash solo film? Only time will tell, but in the meantime, it looks like fans will have plenty to look forward to!

Stay tuned for more!
