Saturday 11/11/17 saw the biggest day on record for the Brisbane leg of the convention. The appearance by Stan ‘The Man’ Lee himself attracting fans from far and wide to catch a glimpse of the comic legend was surely the reason for the massive turn out.

Bustling through the packed crowd, the atmosphere was abuzz with cosplayers out in force. Guest appearances by stars Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things fame, James Marsters from Buffy and Angel, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’s/Arrowverse Franz Drameh and Breaking Bad’s RJ Mitte had fans lining up in droves for photo and autograph opportunities. Other guests from Angel, Teen Wolf, Bleach, Avengers Assemble, Twilight, Dark Matter, Star Wars creator of BB-8, New Zealand’s Weta Workshop and Australia’s John Jarratt were also in attendance.
Among Australia’s creative talent were Wayne Nichols (Marvel/IDW), Adam Nichols (Star Wars: The Force Unleashed), Stewart McKenny (DC), Dean Rankine (Bongo), Ryan K. Lindsay (Action Lab Entertainment/IDW), Jon Sommariva (DC/Dark Horse/IDW/Image) Darren Close (OzComics) and Sorab Del Rio (Silver Fox Comics). International talent included Chris Sprouse (Marvel), Al Barrionuevo (Marvel), Tom Taylor (Marvel), Mark Raats (Motion Picture Illustrator) and Kass Morgan (The 100 Author) among others.

Time and space prevented photo’s or conversations with everyone, but the highlight of the convention was the almost three-hour wait in line for a signature from the legendary Stan Lee for this reporter. My item of choice was The Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus Hard Cover Vol. 1. When time was reaching the end for the day and a long line of fans still waiting, a weary Stan and his team vowed to stay back for signatures and photo’s to get as many done as he could. He truly is a living marvel and legend.
