BOOM! Studios Enters the LABYRINTH with New Kickstarter

BOOM! Studios announced that they’ve entered a partnership with The Jim Henson Company to adapt the novelization of Labyrinth as a graphic novel. This comes from original writer A.C.H. Smith with art by Miguel Mercado. Just like the previous republishing of The Dark Crystal comics, BOOM! will run a direct reverse crowdfunding campaign, making this the fourth of the year for the publisher. The campaign has gone live on Kickstarter, and as of reporting, has already raised four times its initial goal.

The original graphic novel is being offered as either a softcover or hardcover, and offers tiers that include new reprintings of the entire Labyrinth publishing library. This includes short stories collected in Complete Labyrinth: Coronation and Complete Labyrinth: Beyond the Goblin City. The campaign also features other collectives and exclusive items, such as replicas of the original film’s theatrical poster and enhanced jumbo pins.

BOOM! Studios’s President of Publishing and Marketing Filip Sablik stated in the press release:

“We all have an immense fondness for the works of Jim Henson at BOOM! Studios, and without a doubt, one of his most beloved and seminal creations is Labyrinth. When our partners at The Jim Henson Company approached us with the opportunity to do something really special with it, we leapt at it. We hope every fan has as much fun as we did rediscovering Sarah Williams’ journey and encounter with Jareth, The Goblin King. Everything in this campaign is our love letter to that magical world.”

The campaign is set to run for the next thirty games, and can be found here with a full breakdown of rewards.
