BREAKING C2E2 NEWS: Marvel Comics: X-Men Panel [Live Updates]

The Marvel Comics: X-Men panel is happening RIGHT NOW and Comic Watch is there! Stay tuned for live updates!

MARVEL COMICS: X-Men
Friday 2:30-3:30pm, Room S401

X-ceptional writer Jonathan Hickman (X-MEN) is joined by Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, Senior Editor Jordan D. White, and a Krakoan Habitat’s worth of X-men creators to bring you all-new data straight from the House of X and House of Ideas! The Dawn of X has broken, and mutantkind has begun to leave a new mark on the world! But what comes next for Marvel’s Merry Mutants? Find out in this can’t-miss panel featuring Gerry Duggan (Marauders, Cable), Tini Howard (Excalibur), Benjamin Percy (X-Force, Wolverine), Ed Brisson (New Mutants), Vita Ayala (Children of the Atom), and Leah Williams (X-Factor).

Prior to the X-Men Panel was the Marvel Fanfare Panel which also featured Hickman. Here he mentioned that there will be an X-Men/Empyre tie-in that will feature ALL of the current X-writers.

He also mentioned that the disjointed issue structure for X-books will be moving to a now traditional structure soon.

Hickman states that the initial plan for the first 12 issues was to introduce concepts for other books but THAT PLAN HAS CHANGED!

X-Panel News

Mahmud Asrar will be the artist on X-Men issues 8, 13, and 14.

X-Men #9-11 are Empyre tie-ins, with #8 leading up to the event.

Eyeboy, Magik, and Cypher to be featured in Giant Size X-Men. All GSX issues are confirmed to be connected.

Images revealed for the Giant Size X-Men #1 tribute issue.

Marauders #9 talks about the Madripoor government. Forge, Cuckoos and the bug in Pyro all appear in #9 and may be the beginning of guests on the boat.

In Excalibur, Betsy is off to hunt Saturyne. Here’s the cover of #12!

X-Force to feature (unsurprisingly) more morally dubious choices by Beast AND the Krakoan tiki bar!

X-Force #12 cover reveal. Security breach!

X-Force #11 will begin Colossus’ story.

New Mutants #9 features new Mutants with disturbing new powers.

New Mutants #12 is self-contained.

Wolverine #2 and #3 will feature the flower cartel story before switching over to the Vampire Nation story that began in #1.

Cable will feature the return of the Space Knights as well show the complications of dating the Cuckoos.

When pitched the team roster for Hellions, Hickman’s first response was “Why?” but the pitch won him over.

Children of the Atom will be a teen team book with the team (who cameoed in Marvel’s Voices) causing trouble from the start. Smart-mouthed and smarmy kids with Twitch and Tiktok accounts.

Leah Williams’ X-Factor will be X-Factor Investigations. The team will be working with The Five to troubleshoot resurrection protocols and the book will focus a lot on answering resurrection questions.

X-Factor is “beta testing everything happening with krakoa resurrections”

Team will include Eyeboy and Polaris. Polaris was the last character added to the lineup because of her deep history. Hickman applauds Leah’s character work.

July X-book crossover called “X of Swords” with promo art by Mark Brooks.

Hickman and Howard will handle the core writing duties on “X of Swords” which will begin in a FCBD issue drawn by Pepe Larraz.

Here is the official press for X-OF SWORDS and the beautiful Hi-Res Mark Brooks Promo art!!

Mutant MassacreAge of ApocalypseMessiah Complex. Some of the most iconic X-Men stories ever told have been realized as large-scale crossovers. This longstanding tradition continues this summer with X OF SWORDS.

Just announced to an enthusiastic crowd of X-Men fans at the X-Men panel at C2E2, X OF SWORDS will be a 15-part crossover tying into your favorite X-titles and led by Head of X Jonathan Hickman. In this sprawling saga, the new mutant nation of Krakoa faces their biggest challenge yet. Threatened by powerful forces from the unknown, ten mutants will rise up to defend their home. Arming themselves with legendary blades, both new and familiar ones from Marvel history, mutantkind will finally meet its mystical destiny. Impacting the entire X-Men franchise and setting the stage for the future of mutantkind, X OF SWORDS will be a modern X-Men epic that both longtime and new X-Men fans dare not miss.

One of the cool things we are able to do now, because we’ve established the X-line and really know where we’re going, is that we’re able to try some different things out,” said Hickman. “X of Swords will be an old school crossover that meanders through the entire line. It’s almost like chapters of a story.”

Last year, Jonathan Hickman reshaped the world of the X-Men with the top-selling House of X and Powers of X. Since then, the X-Men titles have become of the talk of the industry, each telling exhilarating stories set in this exciting new era. Don’t miss the next chapter in Hickman’s grand vision for Marvel’s mutants when X OF SWORDS kicks off in July!

Hickman also hints that something big is coming in December but no details yet.

When asked if Carol Danvers would be involved in X-books, Hickman got uncharacteristically quiet.

Other Hellions will be featured in Hellions but not the team Hellions as many hoped.

This summer we will find out what is happening with Brian Braddock.
