Brie Larson revealed in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly that the first solo female superhero movie set in the current Marvel comics movie universe will eschew the standard origin formula and dive straight into the story of Carol Danvers at a point where the character already has her powers and is on the elite Kree military team called Starforce which will include Jude Law as it’s leader Mar-Vel and members Korath (Djimon Hounsou, returning from Guardians of the Galaxy), and Minn-Erva (Crazy Rich Asians’ Gemma Chan).
As well as revealing the look of the costume on the cover of Entertainment Weekly’s Sept 14 cover there are several exclusive set photos which include a “young” Nick Fury, Skrulls, Jude Law as leader of Starforce Mar-Vel as well as Maria Rambeau: Carol’s best friend played by Lashana Lynch
The interview also reminded us that the setting for the movie will be in 90’s long before the return of Steve Rogers. It will be interesting to see if Marvel’s departure from the standard formula will resonate with viewers.

I like the suit, and I’m getting a kick out of the fact that yet another person from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is in a superhero movie. It feels like the whole cast from that film has been in something else!
