The Stones are out there!
Marvel has announced a new large-scale crossover spinning out of Guardians of the Galaxy, Infinity Countdown. The countdown begins in March in its own stand-alone title, the crossover will detail the reappearance of the Infinity stones, previously thought lost somewhere within the Marvel Universe.
Creative team Gerry Dugan and Aaron Kuder of all-new Guardians of the Galaxy will be working on the story, described as a huge sweeping spectacular that will feed into a large event which will impact the entire Marvel Universe, three stones bringing with them the power to act affect great good or unspeakable evil, have fallen into the hands of the galaxies Mightiest Heroes, the hunt for the rest is on!
Meanwhile, as the heroes hunt for the stones a new weapon is being forged of unbelievable power, the welder is unknown but the destructive force is unimaginable! Every hero from the street to the Stars, from Spider-Man to the Kree will be affected, the post secret wars universe will never be the same!
“As we worked on the Infinity Stones’ story, it became clear the story was much bigger than we could contain in the Guardians of the Galaxy series,” said editor Jordan D. White. “It starts with the Guardians, but the story extends out into the entire Marvel Universe, with stones popping up in some VERY surprising places. A countdown is the next step in the story…but as the name implies, it’s leading to something even greater.”

The epic begins in infinity Countdown Prime #1 this February, the oversized issue (48 pages) will reveal the location of all six stones as the countdown begins, plus a primer detailing the history of the infamous stones.
March will bring the first official issue, Infinity Countdown #1! In which Marvel’s heroes will come together in a battle for power, which is a dark path to walk… The Marvel Universe will be shaken as the five-part series progresses in an earth-shattering tale.
Then, in March, dive into all the action with INFINITY COUNTDOWN #1, where Duggan and Kuder bring Marvel’s heroes together in a battle for power, leading our heroes down a dark path towards the world’s possible inevitable end! And this is only the start of a story that will grow bigger – get ready as this five-part epic sets the stage for an earth-shattering tale that will change the Marvel Universe forever.
The countdown to the ultimate weapon begins in February, be prepared for the Guardians of the Galaxy to disassemble in a tale that will affect the Marvel Universe for years to come!
Infinity Countdown Prime #1 goes on sale February 21st, 2018, followed by Infinity Prime #1 on March 7th. Comic Watch will release updates as they unfold.
