Interview: David Dastmalchian & Leah Kilpatrick Serve Up A Hat-Trick Of Horror

David Dastmalchian has made a name for himself in the world of comic books with works such as: The Suicide SquadDune, Late Night with the Devil and more.

Though David has quietly become one of the most exciting voices in genre storytelling — he’s now entering a major new chapter across three interconnected horror/comics projects. Joining David on this journey is Leah Kilpatrick, a writer, actor, and creature-maker whose work spans comics, film, and television. Kilpatrick has contributed to both DC Comics and Dark Horse, writing for titles such as DC Horror Presents and the Headless Horseman Halloween Annual in 2023 and 2024.

Through (Z2 Comics)

Alix is a young woman, orphaned as a child, and isolated by perfectionism as an adult, who falls into an enchanted realm. A secret place created to serve as her sanctuary. It’s a realm under siege, transformed into a perilous land of nightmares and shadow.

Now, with carnage closing in, she must piece together the clues to understand the true nature of this realm in order to save it… and herself.

Kingdom of Earth (Dark Horse)

2036. Two years ago, hordes of monsters rose from the earth and sea, devouring everything in sight. Much of mankind was massacred before the monsters realized they needed humans. In this new world, humans have two options: service or slaughter. When a young child named Frankie narrowly escapes their fate as livestock, they soon realize that their fight for survival has only just begun.

The Accessories (Panick Entertainment)

Igor, Renfield, and Mrs. Hyde have aided their masters’ diabolical missions for decades, but today is the day they stop being loyal. Today, the real horror walks out the front door. The looming question is…what do they do now? These three discarded servants find each other in the fallout, forming a band of gawky but determined anti-heroes caught between angry villagers, vengeful monster-hunters, and furious former employers. Their survival will take more than just guts; luckily, they know where to procure more.
