At New York Comic Con, Comic Watch interviewed writer Ethan Sacks (Star Wars) and fellow creator Greg Pak (Planet Hulk, Star Wars) were putting together a live virtual Comic con with Comix Action in support of the “No Kings” movement to encourage early voting, which begins Saturday, October 17, for the upcoming midterm elections.
It’s the biggest pop culture fest in this or any other galaxy — NO KINGS COMIC-CON put on by Comix Action, live on Thursday, October 15th as an early kickoff to the NO KINGS: VOTE EARLY festivities!
Comix Action is a group of NYC-area comic creators and industry professionals united to resist fascism, support colleagues in need, and keep our neighbors and communities safe.
Attendees can expect an evening of entertainment and activism…
Ethan Sacks told Comic Watch:
“Expect two plus hours of pop culture stars and comic icons, and maybe even a musical number or two. It’ll be glorious chaos because we’re attempting to do something cool at a scale we’ve never tried before.
But we live in scary times, and we all have to put in the effort as we head into these important midterms.
We’re aspiring to put on a great show for a great cause – telling people about the next big No Kings Day of Action..”
Planned entertainment includes:
- A Star Trek panel with John de Lancie (Q on The Next Generation), Wilson Cruz (Discovery), and others. A taped appearance from Jeri Ryan is also scheduled
- A Justice League Unlimited Reunion including Phil Lamar and hosted by comic book writer Alex Segura (Dick Tracy, Spider-Man Noir)
- Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum (Minor Threats)
- Surprise and yet-to-be-announced appearances
- Interviews, art, music, and surprises
Throughout the night, attendees will also hear from activists with important voting information! From the coalition of orgs around the country that mobilized the largest political protests in U.S. history for the next big initiative – No Kings: Vote Early Day taking place Saturday, October 17th – a day of action across the country to galvanize Americans to vote early and have fun while doing it!
