Westron: Issues 1 & 2

A private investigator faces supernatural terrors in his quest to find a missing girl

Current Funding: $3,563
Funding Goal: $2,500
Days Left: 3
Link: Westron: Issues 1 & 2

Westron is a supernatural detective horror story based in Slavic mythology. It follows the exploits of private investigator Jan Westron on cases that bring him in conflict with terrifying creatures of legend which have not been widely explored in pop-culture, if at all.

Westron #2 picks up where #1 left off, as Jan sets off to solve the mystery of missing 14-year-old Natalia Becker, after her older sister is found dead in the woods.

Westron differentiates itself from other supernatural detective stories in a few ways. First, it utilizes real Polish mythology as its foundation, setting the stage for creatures you probably haven’t encountered in other media very often. There are no vampires or werewolves here, no mummies or invisible men. But darker, more terrifying creatures made the worse by their unfamiliarity.

Secondly, Westron is set in Europe, mostly split between Poland and Germany, where these legends have their roots. It’s told in English, but the European setting brings a different feel and a deeper sense of history.

Lastly, Westron is two stories in one. It splits its time between the main case set in the recent past and a flashback story that, while separate, ties in and acts as a reflection of the modern story. These two stories each have their own art team to lend a unique feel, but those teams collaborate to ensure that there remains a visual harmony to help bring the stories together as one.

What if The Hurt Locker took place in The Wizard of Oz? Find out in The O.Z., the Ringo Award-winning fantasy comic from acclaimed writer David Pepose (Savage Avengers, Space Ghost, Speed Racer) and superstar artist Ruben Rojas (Proton, New Humanz) that transforms a childhood classic into a war story for the ages. Returning to Kickstarter with our double-sized, 44-page finale, this campaign is dedicated to bringing this adrenaline-fueled twist on L. Frank Baum’s iconic Oz novels to life. Fans of Mad Max: Fury RoadThe Old Guard, and Fables will not want to miss The O.Z.

The Scarecrow War Begins

Decades ago, when a young girl defeated the Wicked Witch of the West, she said farewell to the magical land of Oz… but unwittingly plunged the country into years of brutal civil war. But a generation later, the name of Dorothy Gale lives on in her granddaughter, an Iraq war veteran grappling with disillusionment and PTSD — until a tornado strands her in the war-torn battlefield known only as The O.Z. Forced to navigate warring factions led by the Tin Soldier, the Scarecrow, and the Prince of Lions, Dorothy must face her past and embark on a dangerous quest for the all-powerful Silver Slippers if she hopes to bring peace to the Occupied Zone — or as the locals call it, The O.Z.

Whether you’re new to our Ringo Award-winning series or returning as a Yellow Brick Road Warrior, we’ll have print and digital catchup tiers available containing our entire series, so you can enjoy The O.Z. from start to finish.
