Packrat & Thunderbunny is a humorous, all-ages, indie-created, action-packed, buddy superhero comic book. Think Superheroes meet Saturday morning Cartoons. Drawn in a bold, brightly-colored cartoony style, this comic is a kid-friendly fun and funny romp that pays tribute to the classic superhero comic book genre of heroes vs villains coupled with the slapstick comedy often found in cartoons.

Re-re-Introductions
This is our third campaign for Packrat and Thunderbunny, this time it’s for Issue 3 of a five-issue story arc. For those who missed the first and second issues, look below for a brief synopsis of what’s happened so far. Issues 1 and 2 will be available with this campaign in both digital and physical formats.

Packrat and Thunderbunny are two best friends that happen to be superheroes. Unfortunately, as we saw in Issue 1, one of them is unaware they are best friends.

Much like the main characters of the book, the co-creators of this comic, Derek Jason Bush and John Fletcher Pasquini, are also best friends and have been since they met in high school back in 1987! Yeah, we are that old! The characters were created when Derek was a freshman and John was a senior. It took 35+ years for these characters to come to life. If you want to read the entire backstory behind the making of these characters, check out the “Backstory” section of our first campaign here.

This Third issue picks up right where the second issue left off.  Like Issue 2, this issue  introduces yet another new character to the mix…Slingshot! He’s a speedster much like Thunderbunny, but also in many ways, he’s nothing like Thunderbunny.

Will he be a rival for Thunderbunny’s “Best Bud” friendship with Packrat? They may need to run a speedster race to find out. Will that even matter?

Plus, even more answers are provided in Issue 3 concerning Thunderbunny’s origins. Will we finally find out why Packrat doesn’t seem to know that Thunderbunny is his best friend? SPOILER: Quite possibly, yes.

Resurrected in a vat of holy motor oil, a nerdy pacifist finds himself trapped inside the hulking body of a supernatural slasher and forced to protect a psychic kid from the forces of Heaven, Hell, and everything in between.

It’s a lot to process, but at least he’s got a Halloween mask and a squad of homicidal chickens!

From the twisted minds of Doug Wagner and Daniel Hillyard (co-creators of Narco, I Was a Fashion School Serial Killer and Plastic) comes a brand new graphic novel that blends the dark comedy and horror they’re known for with a wild supernatural twist, all delivered with their signature irreverent humor.

WHAT IS THIS BOOK ABOUT?
Cecil Hackenberry used to live a quiet life making metal tchotchkes and reading to toddlers. Then he died.

Dragged back from the afterlife by a centuries-old skinwalker named Mosi, Cecil’s soul is now trapped inside the body of a supernatural killer that rips out spines and tears off limbs on instinct, whether he wants it to or not. Mosi needs him for one reason… to help protect a psychic child.
That job puts Cecil on the road with Mosi’s crew: Yoel, a foul-mouthed, roller-skating archangel, Tuck, a demolition derby driver whose soul is fused to an indestructible zombie truck, and Pavla, a sweet but powerful psychic kid who doodles her prophecies in crayon. And of course, an army of immortal murder chickens.
While protecting Pavla, Cecil struggles to control a body that kills on instinct as forces from Heaven and Hell close in. When Pavla reveals a Halloween mask could tether his soul to his body, the crew sets out to find it.
Together, these misfits roam the Nevada desert, dodging factions from both Heaven and Hell, each with their own apocalyptic plans for Earth. Mosi’s mission is simple. Keep Pavla alive. She may be the only person capable of disrupting the eternal war between good and evil.

The company, created by Jim Shooter (former Marvel Editor in Chief and DC writer) and businessman Steven Massarsky had one goal: bring the creativity back to comics. What they put together is a genius plan that stood the test of time despite many challenges.

Being the current publisher of such an important part of American comic books history, Alien Books decided to honor the past, present and future of Valiant Comics through this campaign.

Dreams and Nightmares: the 2026 WIP Comics Anthology

A collection of comics on the duality of dreams and nightmares – with a twist! Collects comics from over 50 indie creators.

Current Funding: $1,614
Funding Goal: $3,373
Days Left: 15
Link: Dreams and Nightmares: the 2026 WIP Comics Anthology

Dreams and Nightmares is the latest group project from WIP Comics, a UK-based collective of indie comic creators. Every year, the group comes together to produce an anthology based on a single concept; this year’s book is focussed on the duality of “Dreams and Nightmares” with each creator having a double-page spread to tackle the subject. This year, there’s a twist – literally!

A twist, eh?
Every year we like to try something a little different, whether it’s with the physical dimensions of the book or a fun take on the concept of an anthology (like “Lucky WIP” which was a random selection of mini comics packaged into an envelope – readers didn’t know which comics they’d be getting ahead of time). For “Dreams and Nightmares” we want to involve the reader in the storytelling, so each comic incorporates some sort of page turn where the reader will need to rotate the book in their hands. It’s opened up a whole range of fun layouts and techniques from our talented artists and writers!

Some of the creators are seasoned pros with plenty of other projects under their belts, while others are seeing their work in print for the very first time. Many of the regular WIP Comics crew are returning for this project, including Joe Stone (Stutter, Sport, Splat), Lara Callaghan (Reapers), Hanna Gwynn (Without Ceremony) and Nick Bryan (Death of a Necromancer, The Collected Letters of Courier Z, Worrywart).

The group has produced an annual anthology for the last eight years, setting the theme in January and then giving everyone who wants to participate around six months to produce a comic. We share our progress at monthly meet-ups over that time, bouncing ideas around and giving feedback to help make everyone’s comics as good as they possibly can be. The books have grown to become a familiar and much-loved sight in the UK small press scene, and have become a great way to discover the next generation of comic-making talent

“Dreams and Nightmares” is another ambitious project, and the cost of production and other fees associated with running the group means we need your help to make it happen.

Masque of the Red Death by Wendy Pini

A sweeping, 400-page graphic novel reimagining of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic tale written and illustrated by Wendy Pini!

Current Funding: $33,062
Funding Goal: $15,000
Days Left: 19
Link: Masque of the Red Death by Wendy Pini

Welcome to our Wendy Pini’s Masque of the Red Death Kickstarter campaign from Flesk!

This 400-page 6.625 x 10.25″ graphic novel is offered as a trade paperback, a hardcover, and a limited-edition signed deluxe edition. We also have a premium signed 13 x 19″ print available. Every book pledge comes with a Kickstarter exclusive 6 x 8″ signed print (one for each copy of the book). Please read further for the full details about each item.

A decadent far-future gothic nightmare!

Masque of the Red Death is a sweeping, 400-page graphic novel reimagining of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic tale, conceived, written and illustrated by internationally renowned creator Wendy Pini. This definitive edition presents the full 366-page graphic novel, includes Poe’s original story The Mask of the Red Death, newly illustrated by Wendy Pini, and concludes with an afterword and curated sketchbook section.

Set in a decadent far-future world of scientific excess and looming catastrophe, the story follows brilliant geneticist Anton Prosper, whose pursuit of immortality leads to a discovery that spirals into a bio-technical plague threatening all life. When the enigmatic young prodigy Steffan Kabala enters his orbit, their bond ignites a transformative passion that reshapes both their destinies—and the fate of the world.

Developed over two decades in Wendy Pini’s imagination, this deeply personal opus draws on gothic horror traditions while blending influences from Japanese mangaanime, and Chinese donghua to create haunting, hallucinatory visions of beauty and terror. As re-envisioned here, Poe’s fatalism gives way to a radical reframing: even in the shadow of death, love endures as the ultimate force.

A tragic love story, techno-thriller, and gothic fantasy in equal measure, this long-awaited work stands as Wendy Pini’s personal, ambitious reinterpretation of Poe’s legacy, and a striking meditation on mortality, desire, and hope.

Train to Little Biscuit – Western/Noir Digital comic

A convict on an Old-West prison farm has a secret he’ll take to the grave, and he ain’t goin’ alone!

Current Funding: $350
Funding Goal: $100
Days Left: 12
Link: Train to Little Biscuit – Western/Noir Digital comic
Trian to Little Biscuit is a story I had an incredible time creating, and frankly, I’ve been itching to get it out to my readers. It’s the story of John Mosby, a convict sent to serve a 40-day sentence on the hellish old-west workfarm outside of the small town of Little Biscuit, Wyoming. There, he’ll cross paths with the sadistic warden “One Eyed” Sam Barclay, and John has a secret that could send both men to their graves! It features fantastic art and colors by Domenico Pagano, and it’s just the most stunning Western comic I’ve been a part of so far. Check out some sample pages below!
Train to Little Biscuit was originally created for a western anthology that didn’t get off the ground, and I promoted that book here on Kickstarter to many of you, teasing this story. It’s evolved a little since then, and it’s the perfect comic to launch the second volume of my Country-Western Horror Anthology series, “I Knew the Wind Was Cold… ” Think of this as a preview, if you will. We’re using the funds raised here to create the rest of the stories for that book.
