Real survival story of my father, who as a 16 year old boy in occupied Poland, escaped from German labour camp and walked home.
My motivation in writing Henryk’s Escape was what happened to my father and other children in the occupied Poland during the Second World War. They were made to do slave labour far away from home, facing brutality, hunger and disease. Many of them didn’t survive.
My father Henryk, as a 16 year old boy, managed to escape from a German labour camp and walk home over 7 weeks, every day facing extreme danger. ‘Henryk’s Escape’ is an epic tale of his survival.
The book follows Henryk’s story and gives the insight into his inner world of memories, flashbacks from the labour camp and his dreams, some of which guided him on his way home.
This book is addressed to young adults and teenagers and anybody interested in history and in survival in extreme circumstances.
