Prodigy Comics #1

Current Funding: $2,435
Funding Goal: $3,000
Days Left: 19
Link: Prodigy Comics #1

A 76-page anthology comic from a spectrum of creators, Prodigy Comics #1 introduces a new universe of superheroes, aliens, and magic. This book takes the classic anthology format of the 1930s and 1940s Golden Age comics, but with stories aimed at the diversity of modern audiences.

In a time where it feels impossible to get new readers into comics, Prodigy Comics is an anthology that offers a fresh, new universe for people to explore, free from the burden of extensive continuity, retcons, and reboots. These stories introduce new superheroes, gritty underdog avengers, cursed teenagers, and even a reinvention of a milestone character from the forgotten annals of comics history.

These new characters come from a variety of backgrounds, as do their creators. Queer people and people of color, especially, are integral to the fabric of this world. Our world.

This new storytelling odyssey offer a refreshing perspective on an age-old practice of telling myths through the page. With your help, we can make this dream a reality.

Thunder Guardian

Current Funding: $5,372
Funding Goal: $2,000
Days Left:  9
Link: Thunder Guardian

The Earth has been destroyed. Civilization has been scattered throughout the solar system. The future of humanity has only one hope– THUNDER GUARDIAN!

Join father-son team of Reilly Brown (Deadpool, Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point) and Will Brown (grade schooler) as they tell the story of Thunder Guardian and his friends, and their battle against space pirates, monster boogers, and the forces of the evil Unknown!

For the past two years Will (currently in the 3rd grade) has been designing characters and telling stories to his comic book artist father, Reilly, who has been drawing them as comic strips for the newspaper A Kid and A Comic. This book collects those adventures in one place for the first time, and includes additional brand new material as well. Here’s what the contents will be:

18 pages of the original comic strip, 3-5 pages of a new story, 3-5 pages of a story where Reilly writes it and Will draws it, 2-4 pages of character bios/stats, 2-4 pages of process stuff (like Will’s sketches of characters and Reilly’s interpretations)

For fans of DEADPOOL, who are looking for something equally humorous and action-packed, but maybe they can share with the kids in their life who have a more DOG MAN sense of humor. Similar to AXE COP, but with superheroes. If you like aliens and space pirates, this book is for you. If you like monster boogers, this book is especially for you.

Slice of Life is a queer romance that deconstructs the “slice of life” genre, unpacking the importance of “day in the life” narratives to tell a larger story about the meaning of life from the point of view of a formerly-fictional character.

Funding Goal: $500

Link: The Press Guardian & Clock: Classic Pulp Heroes Return!

The Clock and The Press Guardian are two iconic pulp comic characters that don’t get the love they deserve. If you are a fan of exciting adventures and golden age heroes you will love this 32-page comic.

After 85 years we felt it was time that The Clock and the Press Guardian got to fight some actual Nazis and why not do it together? These are two amazing heroes of the golden age of comics that have been lost to time. They never got their own titles (they were always part of the pulp anthology series), which meant their stories were limited to 6 pages or so.

In this 32-page comic we get to give them a chance to breathe and really tell their story. And, while this is a one-shot, if enough people like what we’re doing we’d love to explore these characters further.

In 1942, the Nazis launched Operation Pastoriusan attempted sabotage campaign on US soilIt failed miserably, but what if it hadn’t? That’s where our story begins.

The Clock figures out the pattern in the sabotage campaign and follows the Nazis to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Near the home base for the Press Guardian.

Together, they have to take on the Nazis in a good old-fashioned pulp-style comic with lots of action, adventure and Nazis getting punched. If you love old school comics with amazing art, you will love this book!
