This special 10th anniversary reprint with a new forward by the author Jennie Wood! A Boy Like Me was a Next Generation Indie Book awards finalist, an INDIEFAB Book of the Year finalist, and one of Foreword Reviews’ 10 Best Indie YA novels for 2014. In the ten years since the original publication, the world has changed dramatically for trans individuals, and Jennie has addressed this evolution with a new forward. It’s the perfect time to bring back this coming-of-age novel and introduce it to a whole new generation.

Plus, Jennie has agreed to donate 100% of their profits to UNITE AGAINST BOOK BANS – because banned books are the ones we should read MOST! Trans rights are under attack, and books, films, and other art that tells trans stories are our best weapons against hate, giving people a window into experiences outside their own. Additionally, there are increasing efforts to ban books across the country, so raising money for Unite Against Book Bans is more important than ever.

Sh*tkickers

by Joey Esposito, Andrea Schiavone, Sabrina Filieri, and Lucas Gattoni

Current Funding: $2,808
Funding Goal: $3,000
Days Left: 5

When the cocky and entitled Dylan Jax joins the Cosmic Protection Bureau and is assigned to bullshit busywork alongside a grumpy alien vet, he’s forced to confront the reality that his great destiny was just a lie his mommy fed him, and that the organization he’s committed his life to isn’t as benevolent as it claims to be.

SHITKICKERS is a series that lives somewhere between the humor of the Jump Street films and the high-stakes action of Guardians of the Galaxy—with a little Starship Troopers for garnish.

But underneath the dick jokes and bad attitudes, this is a story about fighting against a system designed to oppress, even if it takes you a while to realize the side you should be fighting for isn’t the side you’re on. It’s about finding your place in the universe with a little help from your friends and the importance of chosen family. It’s about telling your past to fuck off so you can carve out your own future.

The COSMIC PROTECTION BUREAU (CPB) is an intergalactic police force that uses a Silver Age-style comic book called SPACE COPS as propaganda to draft recruits into service, human and alien alike. But the truth of the CPB is far removed from the romanticized version found in these recruitment comics—the CPB is dirty and corrupt, a problematic organization that prioritizes protecting its own over their sworn duty to serve and protect.

Our story centers around two of these space cops: DYLAN JAX, a hot-headed, brash go-getter eager for action, and SKIZZ, a veteran alien in a career backslide who’s comfortable toiling away in the Bowels of THE PRECINCT, the homeplanet of the CPB. She’s a self-described SHITKICKER, aka the Being doing the most menial tasks possible. When the cocky Dylan is assigned to do bullshit busywork with Skizz, he’s forced to confront the reality that his great destiny was just a lie his mommy fed him, and the organization he’s committed his life to isn’t as benevolent as it claims to be. Bored out of his gourd and trigger happy, Dylan kidnaps Skizz to go on a mission to crack open one of his new partner’s cold cases that sends them spiraling down a wormhole of intergalactic conspiracies, dirty cops, and big-time daddy issues.

SHITKICKERS is a series that lives somewhere between the humor of the Jump Street films and the high-stakes action of Guardians of the Galaxy—with a little Starship Troopers for garnish, and it sounds like this. If you like comics such as Fear Agent, Wasted Space, or Scud the Disposable Assassin, we think you’ll dig this too. But underneath the dick jokes and bad attitudes, this is a story about fighting against a system designed to oppress, even if it takes you a while to realize the side you should be fighting for isn’t the side you’re on. It’s about finding your place in the universe with a little help from your friends and the importance of chosen family. It’s about telling your past to screw off so you can carve out your own future. Roses are red…

Blood is too.

And the undead are even hungrier

In Zombie Date Night 2!

From the clearly rotted mind of Steve Urena (Slow Pokes 1&2, Zombie Date Night, X-Maschina, Foul Mouth) comes the sequel to the critically acclaimed zombie romance comedy, Zombie Date Night!

Still recovering from the awkwardness of their first Zombie Date Night, main characters Jack and Ginger have reached the scariest place to be…the friend zone.

When their survival group realizes they’re running out of food, the enthusiastic and outgoing Ginger leads the charge with a very reluctant Jack to find sustenance before the zombaes (zombies who can only survive with a mate) eat them first. Will the second date be better than the first or will this situationship be food for the undead?

Returning for the sequel is the original team behind the first Zombie Date Night. Incredible art drawn by Sergi Domènech. Amazing Colors by Josh Jensen. Eye-catching lettering by Anthony Rella and editing by the wonderfully talented Allegra Calderaro. This 24-page, hilarious action-packed comic has got everything: laughs, zombies, romance and, of course, over-the-top violence!

Current Funding: $1,878
Funding Goal: $3,000
Days Left: 21
Link: Love Letters, Every Day

We’re Lisa and John, and this is our comic reality. In 2018, we were a struggling comic artist and writer living and raising teens in the Brooklyn bubble.

Background Noise Comic is a Ringo-award-nominated diary comic about our life, our love, and our quirks. We started the comic online in 2018.

When we launched this passion project, we produced a comic daily for a whole year! Now, with your help, we’re turning the best comics from our first year into a book — LOVE LETTERS, EVERY DAY.

A year on the couch? You betcha!

In our comics, we voiced our angst, whimsy, and passions about everything happening in the background of our daily life, from our work to our kids to our imaginary cats to politics to geeky stuff.

We lampooned the divisive American zeitgeist with tales of a POTUS Squirrel in our critter-filled backyard.

Help turn the first year of Background Noise Comics into LOVE LETTERS, EVERY DAY. This book is the first of many collections of the Ringo Award-nominated and Instagram fan-favorite comic.

Trombone Man: Ska’s Fallen Genius. A Jamaican Jazz Odyssey

The true tragic story of Skatalites’ trombonist Don Drummond, told as a comic book series.

Current Funding: $3,334
Funding Goal: $21,909
Days Left: 27
Link: Trombone Man: Ska’s Fallen Genius. A Jamaican Jazz Odyssey

Trombone Man takes the reader on a powerful emotional journey, blending historical fact, social history and a little bit of magical realism. Its written in a mixture of English and phonetically spelt Jamaican Patois. If you’re not familiar, the language takes a little getting used to but there’s a lexicon of words at the back for reference.

Issue #1 sees young Don running wild on the streets of Kingston in the early 1940s. His hard-working, single mother, Doris, is furious when two school teachers turn up at her door to report Don’s lack of school attendance. Doris’ attempts to discipline Don are futile and again he skips school.

Writer, Adam Reeves, and illustrator, Costantinos Pissourios, continue their epic comics-making journey to bring you Trombone Man: Ska’s Fallen Genius, the story of Don Drummond, the Skatalites and the birth of ska.

Both dedicated fans of Jamaican music, Adam and Costantinos have long been fascinated by the history, culture and the personalities within the world of ska, reggae and dancehall music. From a grain of an idea, to holding a printed comic book in our hands, creating Trombone Man is the culmination of our many combined years of involvement with Jamaican music projects; Adam having previously written a book and Costantinos having created his own illustrated tributes to Jamaica’s foundation singers and players.

Commander in Chains is an (a)political action thriller in the vein of Air Force OneWhite House Down, or Olympus Has Fallen. It’s got more in common with TBS Superstation than C-SPAN, less CNN and more Snakes on a Plane.

Do you choke back tears when Bill Pullman delivers his Fourth of July address in Independence Day? That’s the feeling we’re chasing with this comic book. Struck with the title a few years back, we’ve built the main character and story to match: a Tom Clancy character trapped in a B-movie prison flick who’s too resolute to break in the face of immorality, and willing to back up his words with his fists when necessary. Think Ethan Hunt as the American President! Snake Plissken meets Captain America!!

Inspired by my love for the charro outfit, mariachis and anime style art. I sought to create a story that was queer and centered something unabashedly Mexican with a hint of fantasy, goofy but also sincere at heart.
The physical book is 7 x 10”, with 96 pages, softcover, limited palette duo toned (navy blue and orange). All of the art is finished, but will be getting some touch ups for the print version. The typesetting will be redone for the Spanish version.

TO A WESTERN WITH A TOUCH OF SUPERNATURAL…

…and starring the charismatic Redhead in her pursuit of curses and monsters. The acclaimed and award-winning series returns to Kickstarter to raise funds for production and printing of The Few and Cursed #11 – the fifth and penultimate part of our Season 2: The Great Deluge.

We are no strangers to Kickstarter. This is our 21st campaign and thanks to thousands of passionate fans and backers we were able to successfully fund them all.

Whether you’re a returning backer or a new one, this is the perfect opportunity to pledge towards new and exclusive releases, the entire series or pick products to fill holes in your collection.

The Few and Cursed has been around for a decade so I fully understand how it can be daunting to arrive and see all of this without a clue where to start. Pledge with confidence that this is a terrific series with gorgeous artwork and with over 20 campaigns fulfilled it’s safe to say we ALWAYS deliver.

ssue #11 finds the Redhead and her compadres on the run from The Rapture Klan! After the events of issue #10, the Klan is willing to do anything to get their hands on the location of the Ark of Noah.

I’m still writing the script and Fabiano is slowly doing layouts so keep coming back to this section for exciting sneak peeks into our process and the thrilling action-packed issue we’re so excited to work on!

The pages below are from The Few and Cursed #10 and should give you an idea of what to expect from the new book.
