GREGOR!

The epic space adventure, GREGOR! is now live on Kickstarter! Written and drawn by Best-selling author, TEDx speaker, and Ringo Award nominee, David Trustman (GODSlap, The Memory Arts), GREGOR! incorporates mnemonic devices to make American Sign Language (ASL) learning more accessible; this is the perfect aid to learning vocabulary, using wild and fun imagery to make information more memorable

Current Funding:  $1,528
Funding Goal: $15,000
Days Left: 27

Gregor was once the greatest fighter the universe had ever known. When the Aliens had come to Earth, Gregor — along with every other captive — was deafened, physically enhanced, and made to fight in a massive tournament. It’s been almost one hundred and fifty years since he came home.  No one really remembers him. When his best friend Bear shows up in a stolen alien spaceship claiming Gregor’s dead girlfriend is alive, Gregor jumps at the chance to find her… and maybe help her save the universe as well.

GREGOR! is a comic that is an out of this world story about friendship, love and misunderstandings–and if you so choose, it will also help readers begin their journey to learning and loving American Sign Language.

Trustman’s idea for GREGOR! came from his not finding what he wanted to read. You see, his son had just begun wrestling and they were looking for a means to communicate across the gym. We looked at Indian Sign Language but found spoken English ASL made far more sense. After scouring the Internet for books, and comics. Trustman found books teaching signing, comics with deaf characters and even ONE notable comic that had a good deal of signing. but he wanted more.

GREGOR! campaign is so cool that it incorporates mnemonic devices to make American Sign Language (ASL) learning more accessible; this is the perfect aid to learning vocabulary, using wild and fun imagery to make information more memorable.

Alma The Champion

What if Buffy was a 72-year-old Grandmother?

Alma Bernard was your typical senior citizen working in her yard planting flowers when she is struck by a power from out of the blue that changes her life forever!  She passes out with only a neighborhood cat for company but when she wakes up she finds herself confronting a three-foot-tall talking garden gnome.

Alma is the answer.

Tyrone is the garden gnome, but more importantly, he is the eternal companion to the Champion of Life, the person granted the powers to fight off the monsters, the zombies, the vampires, and the other creatures that go bump in the night.  Even he is surprised when he realizes that this 72-year-old person has been given the powers of the Champion!

CHICKEN: Battered & Fried

The sequel to USDA REJECTED is here! Join Chicken and friends as he goes on a journey of life, death, and rebirth…in sunny Florida!

Back around 2009, my stepdad brought home a stuffed chicken from his job at county waste management.  He slapped him down and asked if I wanted him.  I perplexedly replied, “Sure”, and there he sat for in my bedroom, collecting dust, for nearly a year, when I decided to start dressing him in cosplay and bringing him to comic shows as my sidekick/mascot at my artist alley booths.  The stares of confusion were numerous, but over time he became a bit of a mainstay.  Fans and folks began to ask me, “WHEN IS HE GETTING HIS OWN COMIC?”  My reply was usually that I’d think about it when I finished Space Tales, a long-running comic series I was embroiled with at the time.

In 2015, I gave Chicken his first promo poster to let people know that I was seriously considering it.  When I finished the last chapter, and put out my trade paperback,  of IMPOSSIBLE SPACE TALES OF THE LAST PIT STOP in 2018, I began labor on what would become CHICKEN: USDA REJECTED, Chicken’s first adventure.

Without giving too much away, I can best sum up this tale as “What if John Waters had produced an episode of The New Scooby Doo Adventures”.  It starts off in Richmond as Chicken and I are about to head off to a comic con up north.  I “accidentally” leave him behind and thus the impetus of an cross-state misadventure begins!

Join Chicken as he winds up in Florida alongside a returning Monsignor Larry as they go on tour with the worlds greatest Hardcore Horror Punk band, BEULAH LUGOSI &  THE EX-WIVES OF DRACULA and work together to defeat the mysterious, PHANTOM OF THE PHONE BOOK DISTRIBUTION CENTER!

Now their numbers have dwindled, and Tibhan, the last of the Sunmakers, must risk everything by returning to the desolate wastes to fuel the fire that preserves his people’s essence.

Even if the cost is great and unthinkable.

This is the third and final chapter of a three-issue mini-series.

Sunmaker is for those who like their fantasy dark, with thematic undertones, and who want some color in their apocalypse!
