Comics Industry Mourns Again– Judge Dredd Artist Ron Smith Passes at 94

If you have read any Judge Dredd comics over the years, you have likely encountered the work of the prolific and talented Ron Smith. Smith provided the pencils for dozens of issues of the series between 1979 and 1994 and helped to establish many of Mega-City One’s most memorable characters.

Smith’s passing comes on the heels of Judge Dredd co-creator, Carlos Ezquerra’s passing on Oct 1st, 2018. Prior to his comics work, Smith was a noted British Spitfire pilot during World War II, a turn that interrupted a potential career in engineering and instead guided Smith towards media instead. Smith also drew a daily comics strip for the Daily Star.

Rest in Power, Ron Smith, and thanks for all the stories.
