Review

WWE Elimination Chamber 2020 Also, bring promoted As NO ESCAPE  in Germany takes place in the home of Extreme Professional Wrestling. Always Sunny in Philadelphia Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center.

Yes yes yes first match Daniel Bryant vs Drew Gulak

Drew has been poking at Daniel pointing out his weakness. This match was very technical. Every move was met with reversals, counters, and some amazing chain wrestling. The match was very even for the better half of the match. The fans behind Daniels. The match was extremely physical. You can tell by looking at the marks, welts and bruising that was already visible by cameras.  Twice I was concerned about hits that Daniel took to his neck. The first when Daniels and Drew went over the top rope to the floor, and again when Gulak german suplex Daniels causing Daniel’s to land on his neck. At the End of the match, Gulak taps to the yes lock.

United States Champion
Andrade with Zelina Vega  vs Humberto Carrillo
This match promises to be high flying fast pace in your face type of match. The match started with a hard hit to Carrillo’s face. Andrade dominates most of the match, Carrillo almost losing by count-out. Super hurricanrana leading fans chanting ‘this is awesome’ to double knees and a surprising kick out. Zelina exposing the concrete fueling what started this feud. Rolling pins leads to Andrade grabbing the tights for the win.

Elimination  Chamber Match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match.
The Miz and John Morrison vs Robert Roode and Dolph  Ziggler vs Lucha House Party vs Heavy Machinery vs the new day vs the Usos

I have to admit I love the newest designs for the WWE Tag Team Championship Belts.  Bodies flying with hard hits from The Usos and The New Day. The Lucha House Party enters next which picks up the speed of the match. Not soon after the chamber is used as the weapon. Miz and Morrison out next. Quickly dominating the Lucha house party. hurricanrana from the top of the pod from Gran Metalik followed by chants of ‘this is awesome’. Heavy Machinery bulldozes their way into the match with no eliminations yet. Dorado climes to the top of the cage shooting star press to the ring with chants of ‘holy shit’, which followed by their Elimination. Roode and Ziggler time to enter. Ziggler sidesteps Odis causing him to crash through the pod to the chamber to the floor. ‘Holy shit’ chants erupt the standing only arena. ‘This is awesome’. Tucker has a target. Too much for him as it causes the elimination of Heavy Machinery. The New Day and Usos team up to eliminate Roode and Ziggler. Usos and New Day team up to take on Miz and Morrison. The team-up doesn’t last long. Miz and Morrison eliminate the New Day. Leaving the Usos Vs Miz and Morrison. Miz and Morrison retain the championship by use of the top rope.

The Phenomenal One Aj styles with the OC vs Aleister Black in a no disqualification match. The OC making an impact early on, AJ brings in a kendo stick. Black brings out tables. Before the table gets used Aj brings in the chair. Black almost submits till he finds the kendo stick which finds the body of AJ Styles. The German announce table is the victim for this PPV. AJ goes through the table but seems to be more of a hit to Black. The match turns into a three on one. The lights go out but the energy in the crowd is electric as the Undertaker appears out of the darkness to choke slams AJ, just as ‘Taker enters he vanishes in the dark, allowing Black to take the win.

The Street Profits vs Murphy and Rollins for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship. Seth and Murphy control majority of the match. Anytime Street Profit’s advance the AOP make their presents felt. That is until the Viking Raiders come out to make it a fair match. Kevin Owens comes down with popcorn to watch the match. Rollins gets a face full of popcorn causing a distraction, allowing the Street Profits to take control for the win to retain the Raw Tag Team Championship.

Three on one handicap match for the Intercontinental Championship Braun Strowman Vs Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura. Sami wants to do it on his own. Did he? No. Never noticed how much Sami looks like Seth Rogen. Sami spent most of the night punching and running. The strategy worked as he became the new Intercontinental Champion.

What a way to celebrate International Women’s Day than the Main Event. Whoever wins faces WWE women’s Champion Becky Lynch for the belt at WrestleMania next month. Asuka vs Sarah Logan vs Liv Morgan vs Shayna Baszlervs Ruby Riott vs Natalya

I would like Natalya to win but with the story building up, I would guess Shayna will take the W. Love Riott’s hair. Natalya showing the aggressive side by using the chains as a weapon. Riott climbs the fence and senton drop on Natalya. Sarah Logan comes out double knees to  Natalya’s face into Liv’s pod.  Sarah Logan takes out Riott and Natalya with a crossbody from the top of Liv’s pod. Shanya out next goes after Nataly makes Logan tap followed by Riott. We are left with  Natalya to fend for herself. Natalya takes some huge hits from the pod. Natalya taps. Liz out next but meets her pod head first. Morgan takes on some more abuse before being eliminated. Asuka out next but gets choked out.

The women’s division has come a long way from when I first started watching wrestling. The very first PPV I ever watched was Unforgiven 98 Sable vs Luna Vachon in an evening gown match. Many of my heroes are women characters or wrestlers. I was really excited to see the main event. The match was good, Nat took some really hard hits, Sarah showed she was fearless. However, I was a bit disappointed. They could have done so much more, but it was really a hype match for the next PPV.

The Match of the Night goes to WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship bout.

Final Thoughts

The final pit stop on the road to Wrestlemania. Some matches wrestlers gave it their all, while others saved themselves for Wrestlemania.  Perhaps not the greatest PPV event in the history of WWE, however an entertaining event that the Superstars involved should be extremely proud of.
