NEWS WATCH: Marvel to Publish Conan Epic Collections Which Include Works Originally Published by Darkhorse

Conan rides again in the pages of Marvel as The House of Ideas get’s set to retell classic stories as well as republish work done while the character was at DarkHorse Comics

In January this year, it was reported that after 15 Years at Darkhorse, Conan, Robert E. Howard’s most famous barbarian would be making his way back to the pages of Marvel where he had in fact gotten his start in comics back in October of 1970 with the publication of the comic Conan the Barbarian which ran for 275 issues till 1993 enjoying enough success to see Marvel publish several spin-off series set around the character which included titles like Savage Sword of Conan, Conan the King and Conan the Adventurer. Marvel also produced a newspaper strip featuring the character from 1978 through 1981.

Dark horse gained the license to the character in 2003 and published several original works involving Cimmeria’s most famous son including title’s such as Conan the Cimmerian, King Conan as well as reprinting Marvel original printed material.

Now that Conan has moved back to Marvel they are returning the favor so to speak as they are reprinting the collected Conan comics that were done by the likes of Cary Nord and Kurt Busiek while the character was under license to DarkHorse comics…
