Marvel unveiled plans for a new wave of 2099 installments with the upcoming miniseries, Annihilation 2099, set for a July release. All five issues are set to be written by Steve Orlando with art from a variety of artists, including Ibraim Roberson, José Luis, Pete Woods, Ario Anindito, and Dale Eaglesham. The creators explore the cosmic side of Marvel’s cyberpunk future in the wake of Miguel O’Hara – Spider-Man 2099. This includes introducing characters like Star Lord, Nova, and Red Hulk 2099. Orlando will also work with Englesham in a series of backups highlighting Dracula’s search for a new homeworld for the vampires.
In the press release, editor Mark Paniccia spoke about blending Annihilation and 2099, stating:
“No pun intended, but Steve, Ibraim, Ario, Jose, Pete and Dale have knocked this 2099 epic out of orbit! Each issue is action packed with a unique vibe and tone. There’s horror, western, 50’s sci-fi, super hero and all COSMIC! It’s hard to pick a favorite, they’re all so good! And Pete Woods’ character designs are incredible. I hope they make action figures of them all soon!”
Marvel also revealed all five of Nick Bradshaw’s covers for the series, which can be seen below.
