Dark Horse Brings Dave Gibbons to Audio Platforms with Self-Narrated Audiobook

Dark Horse announces an audiobook edition of seminal artist Dave Gibbons’s memoir, Confabulation: An Anecdotal Autobiography, which will also be narrated by Gibbons. The book follows from the artist’s childhood through his attempts to break into the industry, all the way through his work on books like Doctor Who, Watchman, and writing for series like the Rann-Thanagar War

Alongside his comics work, the autobiography also reflects on Gibbons’s time as the first comics laureate, a series of unused pitches, and the end of his working partnership with writer Alan Moore.

In the press release, Gibbons stated:

“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to be a comic artist. The idea of sitting on my own in a small room drawing exciting pictures and getting paid for it was all I aspired to… And now, in a further unforeseen development, I’m pleased to present the audiobook version of my autobiography, from B7 Media. With their expert help, I’ve recorded every word of the book plus a few extra entries not in the print version. Ironically enough, and with strange circularity, this has taken many hours sitting on my own in a small room! Hope you enjoy the results.”

The audiobook is set for release through audioteria.com this December, and then on other platforms in 2024.
