DC just revealed four variant covers for the September 26 launch of HEROES IN CRISIS. Three are the solicited incentive covers by J.G. Jones, Mark Brooks and Francesco Mattina and the fourth is a new open-order cover by Ryan Sook.
To quote the official DC press release:
The life of a superhero is full of risks—it’s a complicated thing, being the person in charge of saving everyone. You can have all the powers of a Kryptonian, a power ring from any color of the emotional spectrum or the skills of the World’s Greatest Detective, but there are still times where everything—and we do mean everything—is going to go wrong. And those failures, regardless of fault or explanation, sometimes stick around a lot longer than the victories.

Luckily, there is a solution on the rise: Sanctuary, a facility designed to allow superheroes to process the trauma of those not-so-heroic moments, is open and operating in the DC Universe, ready to take in all comers and—in theory—help the people who help us. But that’s not always the safest or most glamorous job, and in HEROES IN CRISIS, we’re about to get a firsthand look at just how risky that process can be.

Heroes in Crisis will be brought to you by the team of writer Tom King and Clay Mann as well as the amazing artists whose work is featured in the variant covers above. One more artist will be joining the variant cover team: Ryan Sook who will be providing themed open-to-order variant covers for all seven issues of the series.
Sook’s covers will highlight pivotal crisis moments in the lives of DC’s heroes and highlight those traumatic moments in highly detailed concept covers designed to look like case files from the Sanctuary’s medical records right down to the dates on those covers which are in actual fact and we quote Sook in the DC Press release:
“They deal with the date of the stories’ original release but without a year ascribed. That is deliberate. I researched the exact dates, but the trauma can’t be locked in to history when you carry it with you; it becomes kind of timeless.”

The first of Sook’s covers is the one depicting the Death of Superman and will be followed on by more traumatic moments in the lives of Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Jason Todd and Hal Jordan on each new issue in the series up to issue 6 with an undisclosed traumatic Harley Quinn moment slated for issue 7.
