Doctor Strange Stops By To Help Cap With The Emissary Threat in Captian America #6

Writer J. Michael Straczynski’s return to Marvel for the relaunch of Captain America continues this week in Captain America #6. The book comes hot off the heels of the finale to Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Tochi Onyebuchi’s Captain America crossover, Cold War, and looks to focus on Steve’s roots in his community, both past and present.

This marks the first ongoing series for Straczynski at Marvel since leaving due to the larger publishing calendar coming into conflict with his run of Thor. Marvel wanted to use the character to launch Siege, the next big event following Civil War and Secret Invasion, while Straczynski was focused on trying to rebuild the character after his recent resurrection. When it was clear that Marvel was going to develop Siege with or without Straczynski, the writer left the title at the end of that story arc.
