Like part one, the book has an innovative “double” format: Readers get to see both perspectives in this flip graphic novel. TWO stories, TWO unique perspectives, and TWO different art styles–all in ONE book! In order to get the full tail/tale, readers have to read BOTH sides of the story. Last year, readers were enchanted by Double Booking, Vol I, a brother-sister adventure written that School Library Journal called “the perfect family vacation story” and Kirkus Reviews called ““a fun, illuminating tale with a wonderfully zippy cast.” The book has since sold out and gone into its second printing!

In 2024, the brother & sister team of Chas! Pangburn and Kim Shearer gave us an innovative OGN that wowed readers by telling an incredible story from two perspectives. Readers could experience an incredible narrative from the perspective of Otto, and then flip the book in order to read the narrative from the perspective of his sister Nan. This sequel puts the FULL Double Booking story into perspective with TWO interconnecting sibling tales written by actual siblings! The middle-grade graphic novel series continues with more adventure, humor, teachable moments, and bone-chilling fun!

SPOOKY ADVENTURES AHOY! While on a cruise trip with their father, two siblings, Otto and Nan, learn of a furry menace wreaking havoc for passengers: a real-life werewolf! The resulting “weredunit” adventure has them questioning family, fellow travelers, and even themselves as they battle the ocean’s waves and the full moon. Canine capers are nothing to bark at…especially for two growing kids!

Kim Shearer said, “When I was an elementary school librarian, I noticed two groups of graphic novel fans: the students who loved fantasy comics (like Dog Man, Lunch Lady, Plants versus Zombies, etc.) and the students who loved more reality-based comics (Smile, Babysitter’s Club, etc.). When we would discuss potential future reads, these two groups were pretty reluctant to stray outside of their preferred category of comic. I started to think about using a creative narrative structure to bring both the fantastic and the realistic together. I thought of a story about an older sister and a younger brother who travel the world, but the sister’s narrative would be rooted in reality while the brother’s narrative would involve supernatural elements only he could see. When I told my own younger brother, Chas!, my idea, he embraced it, and we began writing Double Booking together!”

Illustrator Nic Touris added, “I’ve been lucky enough to get to work with the best team ever! Twice! The siblings are literally the two nicest people in the world, and Stephanie is so professional, talented, and sharp she puts japanese editors to shame. Drawing werewolves is so much fun and I got to make a whole comic book about them. Couldn’t be happier.”
