Marvel revealed two more of its tie-in miniseries for the upcoming summer blockbuster event, Blood Hunt. Set to launch in May, Blood Hunt sees the Marvel universe team up to battle vampires all across the world. The first tie-in, Dracula: Blood Hunt, expands the lord of vampire’s role in the conflict, picking up in between the events of the Jed MacKay and Pepe Larraz’s main series. Written by Danny Lore with art by Vincenzo Carratù, the three issue miniseries launches in May while featuring Dracula’s team up with Bloodline, daughter of Blade.
In the press release, Danny Lore discussed the appeal of writing Marvel’s version of Dracula, stating:
“One of the most interesting things about Dracula, for me, is that he doesn’t run on mortal time, and because of that, his reasoning tends toward shadowy and full of schemes. Right now, his goal is to keep Brielle safe – but what does it mean to protect the kid of the number-one thorn in your side? And why?”
Alongside Dracula, Marvel is also set to release a four issue anthology series to chronicle the further adventures of other characters fighting vampires. Blood Hunters will feature both solo stories and a new team, the titular Blood Hunters, as they wage war against the bloodsucking meanaces around the world. In the first issue, Hawkeye gets a story from writer Mark Russell and artist Bob Quinn, Man-Wolf and J. Jonah Jameson work together in a tale from writer Christos Gage and artist Javier Garrón, and Dagger recruits heroes across all four issues in a serialized story by writer Erica Schultz and artist Bernard Chang.
Bernard Chang spoke about the experience of working with their collaborators in the press release, stating:
“It’s an honor to be contributing to BLOOD HUNTERS and the BLOOD HUNT event, and to collaborate with Erica Schultz, who’s crafted a bloody exciting story; and the masterful magician, Marcelo Maiolo, whose color work is amongst the bloody best in the medium. I hope the work will live up to fan expectations, as well as those of previous creators who have tackled the very same characters from when I was reading and collecting comics in my teens, like the legendary Rick Leonardi and Mike Vosburg.”
