Comic Publisher DSTRLY and Penguin Random House Publisher Services, a branch of traditional publisher Penguin Random House, announce they have entered a new, multiyear partnership. Starting in June of 2025, the agreement will focus on sales and distribution, allowing the growing publisher to reach more comic and book shops.
In the press release, DSTLRY Co-Founder and CCO Chip Mosher spoke about the reader’s benefits from the partnership, stating:
“Penguin Random House is the consummate leader in sales and distribution. They’re a perfect partner for DSTLRY to grow, reach more readers, and create new fans.”
DSTLRY continues to be one of the comic industry’s fastest growing new publishers, in part thanks to its bench of industry talent. Founded by Mosher and David Steinberger, both of whom worked as Comixology Executives before Amazon’s restructuring of the app into Kindle, the publisher aims for creator-owned titles that thrives based on quality talent and interesting release structures.
Steinberger discussed how DSTLRY and Penguin Random House fit together, stating:
“DSTLRY is a premium brand and Penguin Random House is a premium partner. With Penguin Random House, and the continued support of comic and bookstores, we’ll collectively be able to capitalize on opportunities as the DSTLRY library grows.”
DSTLRY holds a distinction for its expansive roster of creative talent, which includes names like Mirka Andolfo, Brian Azzarello, Marc Bernardin, Elsa Charretier, Becky Cloonan, Lee Garbett, Jock, Joëlle Jones, Tula Lotay, Jamie McKelvie, Junko Mizuno, Stephanie Phillips, Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, and Ram V. The publisher also managed to achieve a well deserved benchmark by being the first debut publisher to win an Eisner (the winner being Becky Cloonan and Tula Lotay’s Somna).
Rachel Goldstein, EVP of Penguin Random House Publisher Services, spoke about the impressive talent working with DSTRLY, stating:
“In just a short period of time, DSTLRY has established itself as one of the most innovative and refreshing publishers in the comic book and graphic novel markets. We’ve been wowed by the incredible list of creators they’ve developed and we’re excited to support them in reaching even more readers throughout the world.”
