Image Comics revealed a first look at Blood Squad Seven, a new spinoff series from the recently finished Dutch miniseries. Launching this May, the series follows a superhero team grappling with the passage of time, and a new generation of heroes trying to help a broken America. Written by Joe Casey with art by Paul Fry, Blood Squad Seven functions as a deconstruction of ’90s comics themes and tropes, set against the backdrop of the modern day.
Alongside a look at Fry’s interior pages, Image also revealed a first look at the variant covers for issue #1, which kicks off a line of artists that includes Chris Weston, Nick Pitarra, Jim Rugg, and more. Those pages and the variant covers can be seen below.
Blood Squad Seven #1 will be available at comic book shops and on digital platforms on Wednesday, May 22.
