First Watch: A Sneak Peek at Weapon H Variant Homage to Hulk #181

Acclaimed artist Clayton Crain (Ghostrider, X-Force, Carnage) gives us our first sneak peek at the upcoming series Weapon H with a variant cover paying homage to Wolverines first appearance in The Incredible Hulk #181!

Weapon H was built mixing the best elements of Hulk with the healing power and adamantium-laced skeleton and the claws of Wolverine, and the DNA of other Weapon X mutants captured by his creators, such as Domino, Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, and Warpath to mention a few.  Who knows what else may have been floating in that formula that has yet to be revealed!  He was specifically designed to be a lethal killing machine, capable of killing all mutants on Earth.  Like most mutant killing programs, this one too was an epic failure, creating a force to be reckoned with, Weapon H, also referred to as Hulkverine.  This all led to writer Greg Pak (Totally Awesome Hulk/Weapon X) heading up the creative team for the new Weapon H series set to smash and slash its way into stores into local comic stores in March!

This new variant cover by Clayton Crain is a homage to Wolverine’s first appearance in The Incredible Hulk #181 which featured Logan crossing paths with the Hulk while tracking Wendigo, and coincidently enough, according to Weapon H series editor, Darren Shan, Weapon H is going to be pitted against a new kind of Wendigo along with some of the biggest threats in the Marvel Universe!

Another variant cover paying homage to The Incredible Hulk #181 was recently announced as part of the Hulk Variant Program with All-New Wolverine #31 by Mike Perkins
