Dark Horse was kind enough to supply Comic Watch with an advance copy of its new Aliens 3 miniseries, adapted from the unused screenplay written by William Gibson by Johnnie Christmas, art and story. The first issue of Alien 3 will be released November 14th.
The story heralds the return of fan favorite characters Ripley, Hicks, Newt and (maybe?) Bishop and diverges from the cinematic universe pretty much picking up four years after Aliens. I don’t want to reveal much but i can tell you from this first issue there is more of an intergalactic political angle that has me very interested. It’s also good to see the old crew again, although they did live beyond the second movie in the comics, notably Nightmare Asylum (known to me as Aliens v2 as it was originally released) Aliens Earthwar and other late 80s early 90s Alien comics.
The art was pretty great throughout, but we didn’t see more than a glimpse of the titular Xenos and it’s hard to judge art on an Aliens mini without seeing the star attraction. Here are the first 3 pages, generously provided by Dark Horse.
