FIRST WATCH: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, the BLACK ORDER, & MORE!

With the news that Avengers: Infinity War would be arriving one week earlier than expected, Marvel has released new Avengers: Infinity War posters and collectibles, plus details on characters, costumes, plot, & more!

Marvel’s ‘The Black Order’ is a group of ruthless aliens that work for Thanos. They help Thanos, razing worlds where they demand tribute. They eventually arrive at earth in seek of the Infinity Stones! Some changes were made as directors had to consolidate storylines and characters for the film.

The Black Order of the Marvel Cinematic Universe version includes Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw, and a new character, Cull Obsidian.  Directors Joe and Anthony Russo took several creative liberties with the group’s depiction, most notably excluding Supergiant for consolidation purposes as the runtime of the film is already exceeding previously scheduled plans. Other changes include the Russ brothers depicting the group “The Black Order” as “Children of Thanos”, and altering their abilities for the film.

The Thanos and the Black Order is just one of the latest pieces of Avengers: Infinity War promotional art to appear online, another, recently released,  features Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Thanos together, seen here:

More details are being released daily, and the first box office projections for the film suggest a record-breaking opening weekend is in store projecting the Avengers: Infinity War will surpass Black Panther which just had its fourth record-setting weekend at the box office and is the currently the 9th highest grossing film ever in North America!

The below set of character posters for several members of the film’s cast confirms new costumes and new looks for specific characters and bigger news is coming!

Avengers: Infinity War brings the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy together to battle Thanos and the Black Order. The film’s possible run time was recently mentioned, and if accurate, would make Avengers: Infinity War the longest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far. The Russo brothers have promised that Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel will complete every open plot thread in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the first Iron Man movie, setting the stage for an entirely new direction for the MCU!

Discussing plot threads and direction, fans have been speculating since Infinity War was first announced and below we see that some fans were correct when speculating regarding Captain America and the “Secret Avengers”.

One new plot theme was recently revealed by the ongoing merchandising of action figures prior to the movie’s release, and has now been confirmed. Infinity War will introduce the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Captain America’s “Secret Avengers” from the comics. Where this may lead is too early to tell!
Black Panther is now in theaters. It will be followed by Avengers: Infinity War on April 27th, Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6th, Captain Marvel on March 8th, 2019, the Avengers (Phase 4) movie on May 3rd, 2019, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 5th, 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020.
