As some may know the Marvel and DC solicits came out yesterday with further news of cancellations from both publishers.
DC:
The Unexpected #8 was revealed to be short lived New Age of Heroes third series to end, written by Steve Orlando this series delved into the nature of the mysterious Nth Metal isotope, sought out by yet another villain from a crossover event from a bygone era, Mandrakk.
Suicide Squad #50 was also announced to be the series final issue, whether this means a new series will launch (maybe one where characters actually die? it’s the SUICIDE Squad FFS) or the title is being allowed to fade away before it dissolves into further mediocrity is it’s own story.
Marvel:
X-men Red will be ending at issue 12, this fan-favorite series appears to be canceled along with the rest of the color-coded X books to consolidate all into Matt Rosenburg’s Uncanny X-Men series. Perhaps X Fans will review a respite from the half-dozen X titles on the shelf for a while, unlikely given the launch of a new X Force book, Age of X Man and the inevitable Wolverine ongoing that hasn’t been announced yet.
There is no issue of Ms Marvel solicited, although whether this is due to cancellation or delay due to G Willow Wilson’s recent illness is unclear, also notable is the timing does come shortly after Wilson takes over writing duties on Wonder Woman over at DC, so it is possible she’s jumping ship for a bigger book.
Further Speculation abounds that Spectacular Spider-Man will end in favor of Tom Taylor’s upcoming Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series with no issue solicited for January.
