Marvel revealed a first look at the upcoming variants for its relaunch of X-Force. The new #1, which features writing by Geoffrey Thorne and art by Marcus To, is working to reestablish the team as the solution to the world’s biggest problems post-Krakoa. Forge is assembling a rotating team to face issues specific to their various guest stars. He’s flanked by Rachel Summers, Betsy Braddock/Captain Britain, Sage, Surge, and Tank, and the first guest star, Deadpool.
In an interview with Comicbook.com, Thorne described the ethos of the book’s design, stating:
“I want [readers] to have the same kind of fun we’re having taking these crazy mutants in directions they’ve not gone before. We’re trying to provide a rollercoaster ride so occasional screams of delight as the story unfolds would not be unwelcome.”
Stephen Segovia is providing the main covers for the series, and will be joined by Tony Daniel, Skottie Young, and Mahmud Asrar for variants. Iconic X-Force artist Clayton Crain is set to provide an on-going of character centric covers. The series will also include Deadpool centric variants illustrated by David Yakanama and Chris Allen.
