Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading games, IP and toy company Hasbro, revealed interior pages and the lineup of variant covers for G.I. JOE #13, kicking off the hotly anticipated “Dreadnok War.” This first issue of the all-new story arc reunites the original creative dream team of writer Joshua Williamson (Duke, Cobra Commander), Skybound-exclusive artist Tom Reilly (Duke), Eisner Award-winning colorist Jordie Bellaire (Absolute Wonder Woman), and letterer Rus Wooton (Invincible Universe: Battle Beast). The can’t miss Energon Universe action epic will change the worlds of G.I. Joe and Cobra forever when G.I. JOE #13 lands in comic book shops on November 5, 2025.
When Cobra Commander is betrayed by one of his closest allies, he’s targeted for revenge by the Dreadnoks!?But in his darkest hour, the only one who can save Cobra is…Duke??The team-up you never expected kicks off The Dreadnok War, a story arc so action-packed that it will ship bi-weekly!
“Ever since we started talking about the Energon Universe, we had an idea of showing how there were different factions in the G.I. JOE mythology,” said Joshua Williamson. “That it wasn’t going to always be G.I. Joe versus Cobra. We wanted the Dreadnoks to be its own challenge—but not just for GI Joe but for Cobra. I’m pumped to be starting this arc now. It’s one that we were all really excited about from the start. Tom and Jordie have been killing it on all the pages in this storyline. It’s non-stop action and adventure with an Energon Universe twist. Get ready for the unexpected!”
“I’d say I’m excited to be back on G.I. JOE, but I really never left!” said Tom Reilly. As soon as I finished the first arc I jumped onto this one, working with Josh, Jordie, Rus and the rest of the Skybound team to bring you the most high-octane story we can. You won’t want to miss what we’ve been cooking up!”
In addition to the main cover by Tom Reilly, G.I. JOE #13 will feature open-to-order variant covers by Mark Spears, Ben Oliver, a Blank Sketch variant, a Destro mask variant, and a die cut variant by Eric Canete. Also available at exclusive comic shops will be a 1:25 incentive cover by Jesus Merino & Adriano, a 1:50 incentive variant by Kendrick “Kunkka” Lim.
