Ghost Rider Co-Creator, Gary Friedrich, passes at 75

Gary Friedrich passed on from this mortal coil on August 30th, 2018. Known particularly for his writing work at Marvel in the 1960s and 1970s, Friedrich is prominently connected to SGT Fury, Ghost Rider, and Son of Satan, the latter two he co-created.

Friedrich started in comics at Charlton in the early 1960s writing romance comics before being recruited by fellow Missourian and high school friend, Roy Thomas, to come write superhero stories at Marvel Comics in 1966. Throughout many of the Vietnam years, Friedrich was known for his World War II stories in SGT Fury and His Howling Commandos which explored and contrasted various ideologies on the morality of war and war fighters, a daring proposition for the time.
