GLAAD Media Awards Nominees

When I was young, finding a movie or television series with positive LGBTQ+ representation was difficult, and when you did find something, it wasn’t always finding a way to see it.  They existed in a whole range of diverse genres and production values, but few were mainstream.  In 1990, GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) organized the first awards ceremony honoring the people and programs in the media that have shown exemplary achievements for fair, accurate and inclusive representation of the LGBTQ+ community, growing into the largest LGBTQ awards show. On January 18th, the nominees for the 34th annual awards ceremony were released, and in perusing the list, I am amazed at just how far we have come and overcome.  The list is vast with many mainstream movies and television series and there is no way in this article that I can cover them all.  I have included a list of the top categories with links to Comic-Watch reviews and shortcuts to the full list of nominees, along with the GLAAD media tip sheet with helpful information about this years awards.
