Are you a Game of Thrones fan and saddened to see the series draw to a close next year? Well, you’re in luck, as HBO has greenlit the first of a series of planned prequels to the hit show, according to Deadline. The pilot of the new prequel series is to be written by Jane Goldman and executive produced by George R. R. Martin himself.
The new prequel series is to be set thousands of years prior to the current series timeline, will explain the true origin of the white walkers and will explain “the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.”
The current showrunners of the main series set to air it’s final season next year are not currently tied to any of the five planned prequel series.
