Aspen Comics’ classic action-adventure series Shrugged has returned, for its third volume as part of the publisher’s 15-Year Anniversary initiative to bring back classic Aspen titles.
Volume three of Aspen’s hit series’ long-awaited return is finally here!
Rejoin high school teenager Theodore Langstrom along with Ange and Dev, his internal allies guiding his conscience, as he attempts to adapt to life following the events of Shrugged Volumes One and Two! After saving the emotional spectrum realm of Perspecta and everyone he holds dear in the process, Theo discovers that the most fearsome moment of all still awaits him—High School Graduation! But, like all things in his life, adolescence is not the only challenge Theo will face along the way, as he has yet to still truly experience the horrors of several emotions, including entering adulthood!
Shrugged creator and writer, Frank Mastromauro had this to say about the popular series’ long-awaited return:
It’s so great having the third volume of Shrugged premiere during our 15-year anniversary. It’s one of the first series we created after we formed Aspen and I truly feel it’s the best volume yet! My goal was to push the story forward with life after high school for Theo and his pals, but also resolve many of the overarching plot lines that have built throughout the past two volumes. However, if this is the first time you’ve ever read or heard about Shrugged, rest easy! I also tried to make it a great entry point for new readers so you won’t feel lost picking up this new series. The volume 3 art team of André Risso and Valentina Taddeo have impressed me more and more with each new page and I really think everyone will find something to enjoy within the pages of Shrugged!
The return of Shrugged for Volume 3 also coincides with the release of a 25-Cent Shrugged Primer issue that serves to catch up readers on the story, and offer key moments for new readers to know in anticipation of the new volume. As well, Aspen is releasing Shrugged Volume 2: New Thing to Fear trade paperback February 28th in addition to Shrugged (Volume 3) #1 and the Shrugged Primer.
Shrugged (Volume 3) #1 is written by Mastromauro with art by newcomers André Risso and Valentina Taddeo and features two direct edition covers by Risso and original Shrugged artist Micah Gunnell, with a Retailer Incentive cover by Kelsey Shannon. Aspen is also offering a special Shrugged #1 Emerald City Comic Con 2018 exclusive cover limited to 200 copies by superstar artist Siya Oum that will only be available at this weekend’s convention, with limited quantities made available on www.AspenStore.com
