DC has revealed a few more details regarding it’s DC Universe Service and what subscribers can look forward to from the service
The long-promised service will not only offer exclusive TV content such as the new Titans and Dc animated content but will also offer subscribers a library of previous DC television and movie content, access to exclusive merchandise offers via a digital storefront as well as offer a community based social media platform on which DC Fans can interact and even a digital type media archive where fans and newcomers can access information via an online DC encyclopedia information system giving them info on all things DC.
According to a statement by DC chief creative officer Jim Lee:
“first-of-its-kind digital subscription service,” DC Universe is intended to be a one-stop shop for the audience’s DC needs, whether its comics, movies or television. “DC Universe is so much more than a streaming service, it’s a welcoming place for everyone to immerse themselves in their own level of DC fandom, with the epic characters, stories, and experiences they have come to expect from DC.”
“We are investing in and creating original, high-quality shows including the new Titans series, and curating the most beloved nostalgic content, while at the same time elevating the comic reading experience to new heights. Nothing this robust has ever been offered to fans before.”
The service which was developed by Warner Brothers Digital Networks will be launched in the United States this fall across a multitude of platforms including iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV, in addition to offering online and mobile access.
Craig Hunegs The President of Warner Brothers Digital Network had this to say about the service:
“Developing new ways for consumers to access some of our most popular and iconic brands and franchises as well as exclusive, new content whenever they want, on the devices they choose, is one of our studio’s top priorities,” he said. “The DC Universe platform gives fans a place to tailor their experience and build a direct relationship with DC in a way they never could before.”
Over and above the services of new tv content , library DC movie content, a rotating library of online comics and online forum community pages the service will also integrate an up to date “BREAKING NEWS” section keeping subscribers up to date on the goings-on in the DC Universe from the latest upcoming project announcements to info on current DC happenings. There will also be exclusive reward offers which would include access to specific events, video game unlocks other exclusive offerings…
The Service will launch for Beta testing in August with a full rollout later in the year. Fans have the opportunity to for beta access here
