BREAKING NEWS: Netflix and Mark Millar Reveal Major Plans for bringing a Millerverse to Television!

Ever since MillarWorld was acquired by Netflix back in August of 2017 Mark Millar has been hinting that the Streaming TV giant had big plans for the properties it. Today some of those plans have been revealed!

Today Netflix and Millar revealed that the Streaming service will be bringing no less than two tv series and three feature films based on the comic book writings of Millar. The three movies will be based on the properties:

Empress: The story of an empress that flees, with her children, from her marriage to a galactic tyrant and must hide from his army.

Huck: In a quiet seaside town a gas station attendant uses his special abilities to secretly help others but when his special abilities come to light a maelstrom erupts and things will never be the same for the superhero again.

Sharkey The Bounty Hunter: This Scifi story follows the adventures of blue-collar bounty hunter Sharky and his ten-year-old partner as they chase down criminals across the galaxy. This series is also slated for a comic release by Netflix/Millarworld sometime next year.

The TV series will be based on the Sci-fi superhero series  Jupiter’s Legacy and the other will be a multilingual series called American Jesus which follows the story of what happens when a twelve year old finds himself returned as Jesus Christ able to perform miracles and how will he deal with being made a leader in a conflict thats being going on since the dawn of time.

This is the biggest multi-project order  Millar has received and it comes in less than 12 months since Millar and his wife Lucy Millar have been on the Netflix payroll so to speak. Both Millar and his wife have been very busy in that time developing projects, not the least of which is the recently released The Magic Order which has enjoyed unprecedented success as Netflix’s first comic book in becoming the most successful selling new franchise comic book in the last 20 years and the second issue of which is out tomorrow (be sure to look out for  the review which can be read on our site).

Millar tweeted about this news earlier today:

According to an article in Deadline Milar had this to say about what he and his wife have been up to since partnering up with Netflix and we quote:

“My wife Lucy and I are eleven months into our jobs at Netflix and it’s everything we hoped for to the power of ten. To see a movie based on your work every couple of years is incredibly exciting, but to see them all happening at once like this and with talent, this high-end is just off the scale,” said Millar. “These are writers and directors I’ve privately been sending fan-mail to over the last eighteen months so to be working with them all is just enormously exciting. This really is the greatest creative environment I’ve ever worked in. I can’t wait to switch on my computer every morning.”

Partnering up with the Netflix is proving to be the single smartest thing any independent comic producer in the industry may have done as Millar who’s talents have already spawned major success in both the comic and movie industries gets to bring his Millerverse to a whole new audience with the Netflix platform

As always we will be watching…
