The director has given a brief update on the Spider-universe related spin-off which is one of several Spider related projects reportedly in development.
Silver and Black which will revolve around the two characters of criminal Felicia Hardy and mercenary Silver Sablinova is the only spider spin-off aside from Venom that has been given a release date but given that the script is still being hammered out it’s fairly safe to bet that Sony will push back from it’s initial February 2019 release date.
In an interview with Screenrant while discussing the upcoming Cloak & Dagger series, which Prince-Bythewood directed the pilot of (and is also an executive producer on the show), she basically reiterated what she reportedly posted on her Twitter feed earlier in the year, when rumours that the movie was pushed back indefinitely surfaced and that is that she is busy getting the script 100% screen ready before it’s even considered for full production.
There’s every reason to suspect that there will be no rush on that script as Sony will wait to see how Venom does at the box office first before greenlighting any other spinoffs for full production including Silver and Black as well as the Morbius the Living Vampire which is reportedly also in development at the studio. This can be attributed to Sony having been unsuccessful in its previous attempts to launch spinoff franchises from The Amazing Spider-Man four years previously.
Prince-Bythewood has a very good track record if one looks at her directorial resume which includes The Secret Life of Bees, Beyond The Lights as well as the Basketball Diaries which is very positive for Silver and Black should it reach full production and more immediately bodes very well for the imminent Cloak and Dagger pilot which will air on June 7th.
As always we will be watching…

This is pretty much the only one I could see working without Spidey.
I agree but because Venom comes first that will be the yardstick by which the viability of the other spiderverse projects will be measured
You’re right. I will say that Venom looks pretty good now that I’ve actually seen him, but with Sony you never know. I guess we’ll get our proof of concept this Halloween.
