Iconic Image Character Spawns into KILLADELPHIA #30

Crossovers are abound at Image, with the revelation that Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, one of the companies central characters, appears in this week’s Killadelphia #30. The series, written by Rodney Barnes with layouts and inks from Jason Shawn Alexander, pencils by Germán Erramouspe, colors by Lee Loughridge, and letters by Marshall Dillon, follows as a small town cop returns home to Philadelipa, in order to bury his father.

“It’s an honor to have one of the greatest characters ever created to visit our Killa-verse” said Barnes. “I cannot thank the great Todd McFarlane for lending us his baby for a spell. We’re committed to doing him justice.”

While investigating the death, it becomes clear that corruption and vampires have infected the city. The city that served as a hub of democracy has been twisted by a vampiric John Adams, leading the undead towards a new, blood soaked American Revolution. The most recent arc saw a major shift in the forces battling for the soul of the city, with Heaven and Hell both making plays for it. In the aftermath of a clash, a new player appears in the form of Spawn, who ends the issue staring down the survivors of the battle.

Alexander added: “I’m getting to draw the coolest stuff of my career. Spawn entering the Killa-verse makes perfect sense as the series has taken on more ethereal and magic elements in the recent arcs. Fans are in for absolute horror insanity!”

Killadelphia will return with a new story arc in issue #31, promising a better look at Spawn’s role in the escalating conflict between good and evil. In the meantime, check out Spawn’s other crossover in Batman/Spawn #1
