Interview: Richard Ashley Hamilton Talks Scoop (Vol.2): Buried Leads From Mad Cave’s Maverick Imprint

This week Mad Cave’s Mavrick imprint published Richard Ashley Hamilton’s Scoop, Volume II: Buried Leads. In the second book of this acclaimed series, life has only gotten more complicated since Sophie Cooper exposed a paranormal conspiracy deep within Miami in the book’s first installment. But between school, a news internship, and her upcoming Quinceñera, Soph must now balance a love triangle with Milo and Usnavy — and help a disgraced celebrity find his late wife’s “real killer.”

The series, written is written by Richard Ashley Hamilton,  an award-winning Cuban-American screenwriter and author best known for his storytelling across many DreamWorks Animation franchises including How To Train Your Dragon and Guillermo Del Toro’s Tales of Arcadia.

He wrote on the Daytime Emmy-winning first season of Dragons: Race to the Edge and the Lumiere award-winning How To Train Your Dragon: Hidden World Tour VR experience.

Richard is a lifelong comic book fan who has worked and created titles for Dark Horse, Aftershock/Seismic Press, Papercutz, and more.

He currently writes two YA graphic novel series, SCOOP and TECTIV, for Mad Cave/Maverick, and his middle-grade horror title, FEARBOOK CLUB, was named a 2022 Junior Library Guild Official Selection.
