Interview with Paul Cornell: Talking CON & ON and More

The Ahoy Comic series CON & ON is the continuing the tale of pros and cons at the world’s biggest comics convention! 2015 from Paul Cornell and Marika Cresta.

CON & ON is the story of five different years in the life of the Festival—one year per issue, spanning three decades—from the points of view of a diverse bunch of desperate people whose lives revolve around this greatest show on Earth. Meet close friends Eddie and Deja, aspiring young comics talents whose ambitions threaten to tear them apart; Anthony, Don & Finn, brilliant, boozy and bombastic British creators; and all of the crusty veteran editors, forgotten TV stars, and enthusiastic fans who make the convention experience something to revisit year after year.

Throughout the series, careers are, as ever, made and lost, important relationships maintained and destroyed—but an apparition of the greatest superhero heralds the most tragic change. It also features the usual AHOY extra features, including a new chapter of the 5th-anniversary prose serial.

When the series was first released earlier this year, series editor Tom Peyer said about the series:

“I’ve never read a comic quite like CON & ON. Paul and Marika expertly balance the pomp and spectacle of a huge convention with small, intimate moments among flesh-and-blood people you’ll be glad to know.”

Series writer Paul Cornell sat down with Comic Watch to discuss the series, his con experiences, and his career in the video below:

Issues 1-4 of Con & On  are now available at your local comic shop.
