Last Saturday, Mutant Watch got together with Ro Stein & Ted Brandt, artists and designers of new trans mutant Escapade a.k.a. Shela Sexton (created in an amazing story penned by Charlie Jane Anders), alongside usual guests Erik Ojo, black transmasc artist & video content/analysis creator, and Rhayne from Carefree Black Nerd, a podcast about representation in comics & related media, to talk LGBTQ+ mutants in the present Krakoa era and in the storylines made this last year.
As we get into the various ways representation has moved forward, we put a shining spotlight in Marvel’s new trans mutant, her mentorship by Emma Frost and the significance of her spotlight, her design and the storyline in which she was created, alongside fellow trans mutant Morgan Red.
