The Kovadrin Chronicles

The Mourning Tower

Current Funding: $27,820
Funding Goal: $20,000
Days Left: 10
Link: The Kovadrin Chronicles – The Mourning Tower
The Kovadrin Chronicles: The Mourning Tower is an epic fantasy graphic novel series with morally complex, high-stake themes in the vein of Dune, The Way of Kings, and Will Eisner’s The Spirit. Similarly inspired by The Lord of the Rings, the novel includes a new, fleshed-out language, deeply rooted in its own mythology. It features a story that blends fantasy, theological tension, and a visually driven magic system centered on starlight and sacred glyphs.
For 1,000 years, the world of Kovadrah has endured endless night. Star shepherds harvest starlight to grow the fields and guard the flocks, but their survival depends upon the dawn, which comes only once every 70 years when the Mourning Tower awakens. But the dawn demands a price: a sacrifice must be made atop the tower’s summit.
Ilyas Kalivar is one of six champions chosen to brave the tower’s brutal ascent. Beloved by his people and celebrated across kingdoms, he is expected to reach the peak and offer his life for the world. But as he prepares to enter the tower, a buried memory resurfaces — one that could strip him of his title and shatter the faith placed in him.
As rival champions race toward the summit seeking glory through sacrifice, hidden forces work to keep Kovadrah in darkness. Ilyas must decide whether redemption is worth the tower’s price, or if breaking the cycle of sacrifice will doom the world he loves.
