Marvel announces the next installment of its Giant-Sized relaunch, delivering another one-shot that promises to shake up the world outside your window. The first issue will be a Miles Morales story featuring Venom, and this second story will be Giant-Sized Fantastic Four #1. Writer Fabian Nicieza and artist Creees Lee put the focus on Namor as Natlus, the ancient king of Atlantis returns, while the half mutant, half atlantean serves a prison sentence.
In the press release for the issue, Fabian Nicieza describes the book’s approach to Marvel’s first family:
“As a 12-year-old who bought — and still has — the original Giant-Size Fantastic Four run which featured great Marvel creators of the ‘70s like Roy Thomas, Gerry Conway, Len Wein, Marv Wolfman, Chris Claremont, John Buscema, Rich Buckler, and more, it was a thrill to write this issue! I tried to follow in the footsteps of those issues by creating something big and new. I came up with a character whose name and history will have Sub-Mariner fans either chuckling and saying, ‘why did no one ever think of that?’ or they’ll want to drown me! I’m excited to see which it will be!”
The issue will feature a main cover by Bryan Hitch, and also includes a reprinting of Fantastic Four #33 from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Hitch’s cover and a full synopsis of the issue can be seen below:
