Kamala Khan Gets Her First Mutant Mission in New Trailer for MS. MARVEL: THE NEW MUTANT

More information about Kamala Khan’s new status quo as a mutant was revealed during this year’s Marvel: Next Big Thing panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Current X-Men writer Gerry Duggan and Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant co-writer Sabir Pirzada were in attendance, spotlighting Ms. Marvel’s new mission for the X-Men after her resurrection at this year’s Hellfire Gala. The first three Sara Pichelli covers for the four issue miniseries – which will be co-written by Pirzada (who wrote the Ms. Marvel Dark Web tie-in) and Iman Vellani (the actress portraying Kamala in the MCU) – were also revealed during the panel.

The series will see Kamala going on a dangerous mission to help protect mutants from Orchis as the Fall of X looms. The shift in status quo aligns Kamala closer to her MCU counterpart, who was revealed to be seemingly the first mutant of the franchise, just in time for the upcoming The Marvels. Other X-Men connections teased, on the covers and an accompanying trailer, are mutant hallmarks like the Danger Room, killer animals and plenty of family drama.

Those first three covers, along with the trailer for the series, can be seen below:
